Allstate Bank High Yield Savings Review

Allstate Bank’s high yield savings account features a current yield of 2.75% APY, subject to change on a weekly basis. The details for opening and maintaining your High Yield Savings Account with Allstate Bank include:

  • Opening your account with a minimum of $100
  • Keeping a minimum of $500 in your account at all times in order to avoid a $4 per month fee
  • ATM card with reimbursements for using other banks ATM’s for up to $6 per month
  • Interest is compounded daily and credited to the account on a monthly basis
  • You cannot write checks from your high yield savings account balance.

Currently, Allstate Bank is running a promotion on the High Yield Savings account, where new customers can earn an additional 1.25% for 90 days on balances in the high yield savings accounts. The combined yield for the standard 2.75% and the promotional 1.25% gives you a 4.00% APY for the 90 day promotional term.

It is unknown whether the bank will perform a hard or soft pull of your credit when setting up your account, but they will do a credit check. Accounts can be opened at a local Allstate branch or mailing in the application with your check for deposit

Once your account is open, you can make deposits via Allstate ATM’s, direct deposits, ACH transfers from other bank accounts, or through the mail. Withdrawals can be done via a debit card (if you qualify for one, determined by your credit history).

Charter Bank Offers Turbo Checking and a 6.01% APY

Turbo Checking is a reward checking account from Charter Bank. For all balances up to $25,000, you will receive a 6.01% APY provided a standard list of requirements is met each statement cycle. All balances that exceed $25K, the APY will be 1.01% APY. If the requirements are not met for the month, the APY drops to .25%. Additionally, if the monthly requirements are met, Charter Bank will also refund all ATM-related fees.

The requirements for obtaining the high interest rate are as follows:

You must make at least 13 transactions each month using your debit card. Note that ATM transactions do not count.)

  • You must sign up to receive electronic statements.
  • You must access your bank account online at least one time a month.
  • You must link at least one direct deposit or one ACH automated monthly debit.

Applicants nationwide are able to open account via the online application process but only one account per household is permitted. There is a minimum of $100 deposit needed to start the account and the bank will review your information via ChexSystem. Charter Bank does not charge any monthly service fees and there are no regulations for a minimum balance. Charter Bank is FDIC insured and most branches are located in the state of New Mexico, including the cities of Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Farmers and Merchant Banks Platinum Rewards Checking

Farmers and Merchants Bank is offering a free checking account that earns interest more like a CD than a typical checking account. An account be established by anyone, regardless of their location.  A $10 opening deposit is all you need to receive the benefits and the 5.02% APY on all balances up to $50,000. Balances over $50K earn 2.05% APY.

 Using Farmers and Merchants Bank affords you unlimited refunds of all of your ATM-related fees anywhere in the country. There are some requirements that do need to be met in order to receive the 5.02% APY. That list includes:

 You must establish at least one ACH automatic debit or set up one direct deposit connection to the account.

  •  You must complete at least 10 transactions using your bank check card.
  •  You must sign up to receive banking statement electronically.
  •  You must access and utilize the Access NetTeller online banking system.

 If, at anytime, during your monthly statement cycle you fail to meet any of the above requirements, you will not receive the 5.02% rate but instead the base interest will stand at 0.15%. You will also not be qualified to receive the refund of ATM fees. Once a statement cycle is complete, your interest rate will go back to the original Platinum rate, provided you satisfy the requirements.

 Farmers and Merchants Bank does not charge any monthly service charges and there are no minimum balance requirements for the Platinum Rewards Checking account. The bank also offers they own ID SafeChoice identity theft recovery service for free, regardless of whether or not you have met the stated monthly requirements. The ID SafeChoice program will assist you in the event of an identity theft to restore your credit. The program will help you work through the process and re-establish your good name.

Farmers and Merchants Bank is primarily located in the state of Virginia and is FDIC insured since 1934. If you are an out-of-state applicant, you may be required to provide notarized copies of your identification sources in order to complete the application process. WTDirect 3.31% APY Online Savings Account Review

WTDirect from Wilmington TrustAvailable now is a high-yield savings account from WTDirect.  WTDirect is a division of Wilmington Trust FSB of Baltimore Maryland.   Founded in 1903, the Wilmington Trust family of companies maintains offices in the U.S. as well as abroad and employs 2,500 people.  Including their affiliate money managers they have more than $48.1 in managed assets.  They pride themselves on their long-term growth strategy and stability while minimizing volatility.

This high-yield savings account features an interest rate of 3.31% APY with a balance that is built up to $10,000 after 60 days.  Otherwise, the rate drops to .50%.  There is no minimum to open the account.

You can make unlimited deposits and up to six withdrawals per calendar month or monthly statement cycle.  You also can transfer money between WTDirect and your other financial institutions.  There are no transaction or inactivity fees.  And, no checking account is required in order to obtain the high rate.

WTDirect has a $0 Liability Guarantee with restrictions in the event of an unauthorized transaction on your account.

There is only one caveat to this account buried in the fine print:  “You understand and agree that we may from time to time impose additional charges in connection with your Bank to Bank Transfer transactions. We will notify you of such fee in advance of the transaction. If you choose to proceed with the transaction, you authorize us to debit your account in the amount indicated.”  These institutions almost always provide for activities such as these, but it is better knowing about them up front.  Read the account details before you open an online savings account with any institution.

NBRS Financial Reward Checking Account

NBRS Financial is offering a reward checking account which ears a 5.36% APY for all accounts with balances up $25,000(5.13% for balances up to $25K if balance requirements are not met). At $25,001 and up, the rate goes to 1.00% (1.01% for balances over $25K if balance requirements are met). To open an account, the minimum deposit required is $100. The account does not have any minimum balance requirements and NBRS does not charge fees for monthly service.

In order to receive the 5.26% APY rate, there are requirements that must be met monthly; otherwise the rate drops to 0.20%. NBRS Financial will also refund all ATM fees provided the list of requirements stated is met each month. The requirement list for both the 5.26% APY and the refunded ATM fees is as follows:

  • You meet the minimum requirement of at least 10 debt card transactions each month
  • You sign up to receive your bank statements electronically
  • You access your bank account online
  • You assign at least one direct deposit or ACH automatic debit to your account
